Rogue Community Health is pleased to announce that its annual Rogue Way to Health Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 12 noon at the Inn at the Commons in Medford. Nearly 400 people are slated to gather for this annual event to hear an update on the agency’s accomplishments in 2017 and to help support the agency’s work to be accomplished in the next year.
Keynote speaker, Zeke Smith, Chair of Oregon Health Authority Policy Board, will speak about his experience with helping to better the lives of children and families, and about the systems designed to support that effort. Zeke lives in the Portland area and is the Chief Impact Officer with United Way of the Columbia Willamette. He has served as Chief of Staff at Portland Public Schools and has worked for several community-based nonprofits.
At 10:30am on November 1 during a Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in front of Inn at the Commons in Medford, Rogue Community Health will introduce its new fleet of 5 Volkswagen Beetles to be used to help educate people on the importance of healthy behaviors, reach patients throughout the valley who experience barriers to accessing healthcare services, and to support organizations, nonprofits and small business through direct services.
Rogue Community Health is well positioned to help people who face access barriers to accessing services. “The need is high in the Rogue Valley,” says William North, CEO. “We are hiring new medical, dental and behavioral health providers as well as Community Health Workers and Pharmacy staff so that we can expand our capacity to help more people with their healthcare needs.” People helping people has long been the philosophy at Rogue Community Health. In 2016, Rogue Community Health provided a medical home to more than 9,200 patients in over 29,000 office visits. 19% of Rogue Community Health patients were uninsured in 2016.
The Presenting Sponsor of the Rogue Way to Health Luncheon is AllCare Health Plan. AllCare Health is an integrated health organization in Southern Oregon which combines medical, dental and mental health services, along with Medicare, Medicaid, and Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) insurance coverage. AllCare Health contracts with Rogue Community Health to provide services for Oregon Health Plan members. “Support from AllCare Health and all our sponsorships make it possible for every dollar raised at this event to go to programs and services that expand access to affordable health care for all, regardless of insurance status,” says Development Director Karen Elliott.
