The School-Based Dental Health Outreach Program helps to prevent dental disease and promotes dental health by teaching children to brush, floss and eat healthy foods. This program includes school-based dental screenings, fluoride varnish, sealants, dental education and outreach to children in need of dental care.
All dental services are provided by licensed dental professionals.
The program is open to all students (insured and uninsured) at in grades K-12 in School District #9 Eagle Point, School District #91 Butte Falls and at School District #59 Prospect. The program is sponsored in part by Rogue Community Health, Jackson County School District #9 Foundation and The Reed and Carolee Walker Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation. Thanks to this fantastic collaboration, nearly 5,000 students each school year gain access to preventive dental care.
Oral health can affect overall health. Problems with oral health can increase the risk of serious health conditions later in life, including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Getting proper dental care early in life is a great way to make sure our kids are on the road to good health!
